One of the many things I find wonderous about the climate movement, and particularly with Extinction Rebellion, is the natural magic and beauty that is brought to every event. Although not an XR protest exactly this School Strike 4 Climate was no different. The giant flag, in the second photo, was a symbol of the october rebellion and if you took part in actions at Trafalgar square of even just paid a visit it is likely that you saw one or two of them flying around, and brushing your skin if you got too close. They really embody this idea, these flags which an individual or group decided to create and perform with bring an element of beauty with them that no one sepcifically requested nor thought they needed. Does anyone ask them to perform? Does anyone know when they will perform? Does anyone know why they perform? I have no idea, maybe they are booked like a session musician or maybe they just perform where they deem they are needed, and they most graciously are needed. For whatever reason they came they brought a sort of protection and guidance to the protest, flying and fleeting through the air with beauty and grace and power.
