I had only been to Hackney once before in my memory and I felt that there was a very strong community and that they are very welcoming to anybody and everybody. This protest only reinforced my preconceptions as this protest seemed to be made up of many groups of friends that all wanted to make their voice heard to the local council. I didn't have any interest in the protests aim before I went but as I got into photographing people there I found myself joining in with chants despite nightclubs in Hackney not being an issue that I had ever thought really affected me.
